MOVIE MONOMANIA
A Movie Blog for Film Enthusiasts
Get ready to go back in the water! Jaws is turning 50 this year, and Hollywood may be gearing up for a big splash. Steven Spielberg’s iconic 1975 thriller, which forever changed summer blockbusters, celebrates its half-century milestone this June.
While Universal hasn’t officially announced a full slate of events yet, industry chatter points to a possible 4K theatrical re-release, a limited-edition box set, and new behind-the-scenes content. Some sources even hint at a documentary diving into the film’s cultural impact, with fresh interviews and rare archive footage.
Theme parks may also get in on the fun, with whispers of temporary Jaws-themed attractions or fan events at Universal Studios.
No word yet on whether Spielberg himself will participate, but if this anniversary proves anything, it’s that Jaws still has plenty of bite.
In a surprise move, David Fincher is set to direct a sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. The new film will focus on stuntman Cliff Booth, once again played by Brad Pitt, and will be based on a screenplay by Tarantino.
Though Tarantino won’t direct, the project reportedly draws from his shelved script The Movie Critic and ideas previously explored in his Hollywood novel. Leonardo DiCaprio is not expected to return as Rick Dalton.
This marks the first time since the ‘90s that Tarantino has handed off a script to another director—this time to Fincher, with whom Pitt has frequently collaborated. The film is expected to be a Netflix production, possibly shooting as early as this summer!
